For ten years I've tested what others build — at Logius, RIVM, the Dutch Tax Administration, Knab and more. This page does the opposite: it's a test run on me. Scroll through the report.

Logius

Test Specialist / Test Automation Engineer

Given
a newly formed team rebuilding a legacy application from the ground up — without an existing test strategy or automation,
When
Rishen defines the test strategy, builds the automation framework (front-end and back-end) and coordinates all test activities within the team,
Then
there's a full-fledged framework covering unit, component, integration and E2E tests in Cypress, Spring IT and Java — and testing is no longer an afterthought, but part of every sprint.

IVO Rechtspraak

Test Automation Engineer / Test Coordinator

Given
a new team taking over components — including existing test frameworks — from other teams,
When
Rishen adopts, extends and improves those frameworks, while also coordinating user acceptance, penetration and performance testing,
Then
the inherited test suite runs better than before and the team is on top of quality, from Specflow back-end tests to Cypress E2E.

PASSED rivm.spec June 2021 — December 2024

RIVM

Test Automation Engineer / Test Coordinator

Given
a team where front-end and back-end were tested all mixed together — slow and imprecise,
When
Rishen advises splitting the automated tests, sets up the Cypress framework and extends the back-end tests in Specflow,
Then
front-end and back-end are tested in a focused, direct way — for 3.5 years, including map layers via GeoServer and coordinating acceptance, penetration and performance testing.

Agile Test Consultant

Given
a team with growing automation ambitions and an organisation-wide testing community,
When
Rishen applies his expertise in C#, Specflow and Selenium and contributes to, among others, the internal BDD course,
Then
test coverage is broadened and not just the team, but the entire testing community of the Tax Administration benefits.

PASSED DSW Zorgverzekeraar December 2019 — September 2020 · Agile Test Consultant

Fully responsible for testing AZR, a Windows application for client records with many dependencies — plus the applications feeding it. Guided the transformation from Windows to web application and tested it from the very first line. Took on new challenges such as XML-driven testing and broadened the test suite.

PASSED Crédit Agricole July 2018 — November 2019 · Test Automation Engineer / Test Lead

Test lead for two Agile teams on project Compensate: a web application allowing customers to reclaim overcharged loan interest. Gave direction to testing and set up test automation from scratch — automated UI tests in C# with Selenium, E2E in BDD format.

PASSED Knab October 2016 — June 2019 · Test Analyst / Test Automation Engineer

Software tester in the Personal Banking scrum team (payments, savings, investments) at this Dutch online bank. This is where the love for test automation began: self-study after hours, applied on the job the next day. Regression testing, release coordination from acceptance to production, and step by step pulled automation into the team.

PASSED Meeùs 2015 — 2016 · Website designer (graduation internship)

Improved the online customer service based on UX research and user testing. The redesigned customer service page went live and delivered better results right away — and testing turned out to be here to stay.

Beyond the scripts

Not everything can be captured in an automated test — the best discoveries come from exploring. That goes for life outside work too: as an avid online gamer I play with people from all over the world, and in the kitchen I test recipes on friends and family. Open-minded, spontaneous, and always up for a coffee and a good conversation.

// exploratory session notes
charter: the human behind the tester
finding 1: rarely loses a match online
finding 2: cooks better than he admits
finding 3: coffee = reliable trigger
status: no blockers found

// the last step of every good test: report

Shall we
meet?

Looking for a test specialist who builds automation, brings teams along and makes quality a conversation? I'm always up for a coffee.
